Have you heard that voice that sounds like a big Hadada bird screaming inside your head? It shrieks out a critical or disapproving attack with every mistake one makes or even when one attempts to do good, but it just does not meet societies standard. It rings out in your head like the annoying buzzer on a low budget game show every time you make a move. At some point we just give up to contribute or to endeavour anything new and exciting, for fear of this voice hating on us.

We hear this ugly voice in different circumstances, usually when we are under pressure or when we are vulnerable. We sometimes even hear it when people try to give us a compliment. It tells us in detail that we are worthless, or helpless or even unlovable. It tells us that we are wrong and we are doing the wrong things. We should be like this or that, we should do it like this or that.

Have you encountered this ugly voice?

Maybe it is time to shut that voice down and listen to some truth. Because if you confess that Jesus is the Lord and that he was raised from death to life by God, guess what?

You ARE justified.

‘But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.’  Romans 10:8-10

What does it mean to be justified?

 To be declared righteous.

What does it mean to be righteous?

This righteousness is freely given to us when we believe and accept Jesus as the only One who saves us. It inexplicably indicates that we are loved, redeemed and forgiven of all our sin. And therefore, we can now stand in a perfect relationship with God again – as righteous, justified children of the almighty God. How sweet, it is totally neat!!

But if this is true as indicated in Romans 10, why do we listen to a lying little voice in our head, when Jesus has removed all condemnation from our lives. For if we are justified, it means that God sees us as righteous, as justified as clean and new. Because of this justification it is possible to have an intimate life-giving relationship with God and to live for Him and through Him.

Let’s just confirm this last part by checking out a few powerful verses that confirms the point that in Jesus we are free from any condemnation – free to live without sin, free to glorify Him by bearing spiritual fruit in His Kingdom.

‘For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.’  John 3:17

‘There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.’  Romans 8:1

‘But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised— who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.’  Romans 8:25,33-34

‘Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.’  John 3:18

‘She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”’  John 8:11

Does the above voice of redemption and grace sound sweet?

My dear friends, I hope that you will differentiate the harsh, crass voice of condemnation from the sweet voice of redemption and that you will live knowing that Jesus did everything to justify you and bring you into Him and His amazing Kingdom.

You are now His own possession, that He brought to His Kingdom. Free to live for Him.

‘He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.’  Colossians 1:13-14
